Our take

Cafe fans get real variety here: a coffee bar, a vintage piano, crystal lamps and a chalkboard across two levels with an outdoor terrace, and builders keep naming the tiny books as the best part. Not a weekend kit — official assembly time is 24 hours and reports run past it. Expect heavy paper cutting, and the printed woodgrain is the weak link; builders say it doesn't read as wood.

We have not built this kit. This entry is based on the manufacturer's published specifications and on reports from builders who have finished it — not on a build of our own. See how we review.

What works

  • 203 pieces spread across genuinely varied sub-builds - coffee bar, vintage piano, crystal lamps, bookshelves, promotional chalkboard
  • French-style two-level layout with an outdoor seating area gives more display angles than a flat single-wall room box
  • LED lighting included (CR2032 cells)
  • Builders repeatedly single out the small props - especially the books - as the most enjoyable part
  • Mixed materials (plywood, paper, metal) plus curtains and pillows give more texture variety than all-wood kits

What to watch for

  • Heavy paper cutting throughout; builders specifically criticised the woodgrain paper as unconvincing on the parts that need it
  • At 24h official assembly time it is one of the longest builds in the DG line, and some report 24-26h
  • Several instruction steps are described as vague
  • The official rolife.robotime.com product page publishes no scale and no difficulty rating

Skills you'll use

  • gluing
  • paper cutting
  • fine assembly
  • led wiring
  • fabric work

Most of these need nothing more than a craft knife, tweezers and patience. The tools and supplies we actually use are listed separately.

Best for

  • cafe and coffee fans
  • builders who want lots of varied sub-builds
  • people who like an outdoor-terrace display angle
